HOW

HOW I PRACTICE HERBAL MEDICINE

The Consultation

I am here for the busy individual who may struggle to find time for their health concerns.  By Skype or WhatsApp, you can consult with me in an evening or weekend at a time that suits you.

My emphasis is on you, the individual, rather than, say, the disease you have been labelled with.  It is important for me to hear your story, how you came to be in your current situation.

In my experience, people's health concerns are rarely simple, and I give you the time to talk me through it all.  Allow around sixty to ninety minutes.  However, if you have a straightforward issue, I promise not to make a mountain out of a molehill and will keep it simple if appropriate to do so.

Important things you may need to look up are the details of all prescription drugs and any other supplements you are currently taking.  Also,  any allergies you may have.

It would be wrong to send you herbs and leave you to it.  We should stay in touch so I can monitor progress, possibly vary the herbs and address any concerns you may have.   After the first three weeks or so is a good time to gauge an initial response.  After that, we should find the time to talk at least every eight to twelve weeks, more often if you wish.  You may not need herbs that long.  However, many patients will have put up with their issues for a long time when rapid resolutions are not to be expected.

I should point out I can't guarantee success with herbs, but we can talk about managing your expectations...

HOW HERBS WORK

I have heard patients say "I am much better...but I don't think its the herbs..."

Your previous experiences may come from the dramatic effect of a pharmaceutical drug.  A specific chemical reaction in the body that shuts off a symptom.  You get a headache, you take a pill, it goes away as if by magic.  Until you get another one...

That's not what herbs are about.  Herbs help the body do what it is supposed to do.  There is no artificial response.  Just a quiet resolution.  Helping you back on track.

HOW DO I LOOK?

It's the month of May and I am spoiling your view of an Elder!  The flowers are useful for hay fever and other allergies.  The berries make a pleasant anti viral cordial for the Winter months.

If you are interested in plant identification and foraging for wild food and medicine then contact me to arrange a walk.
HOW DO YOU FEEL?

Pretty cool and relaxed with all the photos of greenery?  That's Nature's Prescription for you.

The flowering plants here are Ramsons, often called Wild Garlic but I prefer the old English name.  A tasty edible that grows prolifically in damp woodland.
